1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how the Polls & Surveys app (“we”, “our”, “the app”) handles information when it is installed on a Wix website. The app is developed and operated by an independent developer and is distributed through the Wix App Market.

2. Roles

The site owner who installs the app is the data controller for the poll content they create and the responses they collect from their visitors. We act as a data processor, operating the app’s backend on the site owner’s behalf. All poll data is stored in the site owner’s own Wix Data collections on Wix infrastructure and is subject to Wix’s Privacy Policy.

3. What Data the App Processes

Poll content (entered by the site owner): questions, options, images, thank-you messages, redirect URLs, appearance settings, and — on the paid plan — saved themes and custom CSS. Stored in the site’s Wix Data collections.

Votes (submitted by site visitors): the selected option(s) or ranking, a random per-browser token generated by the app, and a salted, non-reversible SHA-256 fingerprint derived from the visitor’s IP address. The fingerprint is salted with the poll’s identifier, is used only to stop the same person voting twice on the same poll, and cannot be reversed to an IP address. The raw IP address is never stored.

Lead-capture emails (optional): if the site owner turns on the lead-capture step, a visitor may enter their email address before or after voting. These emails are stored in the site owner’s Wix Data collection and are visible only to the site owner, who may export them to CSV. Do not enable this feature unless your own site privacy policy tells visitors their email will be collected.

Aggregate results: vote tallies and a response-over-time count, shown to the site owner in the dashboard and — as configured by the site owner — to visitors.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

The app does not set any cookies. It stores one item in the visitor’s browser localStorage (the anonymous vote token) so a visitor is not asked to vote again on a device where they already voted. This value never leaves the device except as part of a vote submission.

5. Third-Party Services

When the site owner selects a custom Google font for a poll (a paid-plan feature), the poll widget requests that font file from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) at page load. This is a standard web-font request; see Google’s privacy policy. If no custom Google font is set, no request is made to Google.

The app uses no analytics, tracking, or advertising services of its own.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Poll content, votes, and leads persist in the site owner’s Wix Data collections until the site owner deletes the poll (which also deletes its votes and leads) or uninstalls the app. Site owners can delete any poll at any time from the dashboard.

Because the app stores visitor votes and (optionally) visitor emails on the site owner’s behalf, the site owner is responsible for having a lawful basis for that processing and for responding to data-subject requests, using the export and delete tools in the dashboard. We do not use any of this data for our own purposes, do not sell it, and do not share it with third parties.

8. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed at children. Site owners should not run polls that knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
